Thursday 18th September – Windsurf *** The Manor at Felixstowe –
sunny periods and mild.
Foil – 19.01 knot max, 17.75 knot ave., 12.61 knot hour, 15.99 knot
mile, 47.00 km., 13.98 knot alpha.
Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham Bolt
5.75.
A few were heading down to The Manor in Felixstowe around one to give some
time for the tide to drop, this gave my enough time to do my exercises in
the garden, mild with some glimpses of sun. I then hitched the trailer and
headed down to Squiz Lane taking Mag with me again for her daily walk with
a blue sky at this point. The foil board was quickly set up on the beach,
sail size was harder as the wind was WSW, slightly cross off so I took a
chance with my 5.75 which proved OK, too big at times and under at times as
it remained off for the entire session, for some reason the sea was pretty
lumpy especially when heading out you were sailing out straight into the
fairly large waves that were rolling in! With the temperature up again the
shortie was on again, just before I was about to launch a selection of
Hurrells arrived on bikes and walking, so after a quick chat I headed out.
There was a particularly strong band of wind close to the beach but it did
ease further out, the wind was a little up and down today as it continued
to be fairly off! The first run out to Wadgate then I ended up downwind by
the Martello tower but I quickly beat up towards Landguard beach where
several were out including fin sailers, a few wingers and another wind
foiler. I did do a couple of nice downwind runs to the pier and easily beat
back, I stayed on on all my gybes but did go in a couple of times pushing
too hard over the waves! I was getting tired so decided to call it a day
and came ashore, lucky for me as the wind was now well off and dropping and
I had sailed a fraction under 30 miles and my finger was ore:(
I had enough time at home for a cake Mag had got me from Lidl and a cuppa,
send a few pics to the TV weather before heading off to give blood, am now
officially knackered. Tomorrow is Maeva day and we have been invited out
for lunch, should be good:)
